LO5 Contingency Plans

Contingency Plans
If presenters are unavailable;
If the presenters are unavailable to be on the show, guest presenter(s) will act as substitutes, the quest presenter(s) will be chosen in advance.

If guest stars are unavailable;
If the guest star(s) are unable to appear on the show, either a substitute guest will appear in the guests place or the presenters will have to deal with out the guest(s) in which case the presenter would go to their back up plan of the radio show/podcast.

If the equipment is unavailable;
If the required equipment is unavailable, we would have to improvise and remove the sections that required the use of that equipment, for example if the desired PC (computer) wasn’t working we would use a different PC (computer).

If the preferred time slot that we wanted to record in is unavailable;
If the preferred time slot that we wanted to record in is unavailable we would have to reschedule the time in which we planned to record in and our back up plan to solve this would be to firstly check if there is a slot of time within one hour of the original time slot and if not we would work our way out from there.

Equipment
If the cost of the equipment is an issues;
If the cost of the equipment is too high, it could affect the production of the show so we would have to take pre-cautions such as making sure we could if need be borrow some from other local stations or people.

If the equipment is faulty;
If the equipment is faulty it could disrupt the production of our audio media product so we would have to take pre-cautions such as additional back-up equipment and make back-ups/copies of all the files.

LO5 Copyright (PRS Licence) and Legal and Ethical Issues

Copyright (PRS Licence);
To avoid any copyright infringements a PRS licence will be purchased as we will be using music, references to programs and possibly examples of programs such as our main talking point 'One Point' however we would of had to gain permission for intellectual property whether or not they are signed to a record label, such as the music that is to be used. A PRS license would allow us to use the intellectual property of artists and bands with of course the permission of the intellectual property holder. This would cost £240 annually.

Legal and Ethical Issues;
The legal and ethical issues we would have to watch out for are things such as profane language and discriminatory representations (discrimination), such as drugs, sex and women. We also have to be specifically careful to ensure we do not mock or offend people as some 'anime' which is the focus of our audio media product can seem offensive and derogative. We will counter-act this by ensuring that we do all the possible research we can to ensure we are not representing an abusive or discriminating or offensive anime. Another method that we would use to counter-act the above issues is the method of production, pre-recorded i.e because it was all pre-recorded we could edit the audio and not have any problems with the above issues and because of this we wouldn't have any issues with interviews or any other audio recording.

As our product is based on anime and cartoons, we must be careful to not feature sound clips etc from the shows, as this is owned by the creators of the show and we could be sued for using it without permission. We also need to make sure that any profane language and discriminatory representations such as sexuality, drugs and gender must be edited out as our show will be released before the watershed (9pm) and also could cause unrest and offend people listening.

LO5 Review and Improve (Possible Future Developments)

Did you meet the brief requirements?
We met the brief requirements by making sure we created and produced an original and unique podcast/ radio-show to bring to the local community which we did.

Did you change anything about your product?

We haven't changed anything to our or about our product.

What worked well?

The research for the AMP as Stephen watches anime frequently and this allows to comment on it and it gave us a lot of content to talk about.

What needs improvement?

How we planned to reach the target audience and planning out the structure of the AMP.

How did you team work together?

We worked well together as we both contributed to the production and presentation?(pitch) to the Audio media product.

The future developments that could be made to this audio media product are;

One of the improvements that could be made to my audio media product is that instead of just uploading the podcast for the standard 30 days it could stay uploaded and available for streaming and downloading for good. The second improvement that could be made to my audio media product is to read the audiences opinions/criticism and take them in, as this would help you to improve the show, another improvement that could be made to my audio media product would be to in fact not script all the show but instead prepare as this allows for the speech to appear and feel more fluent.

LO5 Reflection on the Feedback we Received off Sheffield Live (Feedforward Sheet)

Feedback from Sheffield Live

Reflection

Strengths Based Upon Feedback;
The strengths of our pitch based upon the feedback we received from Sheffield Live was that we provided all the information that was needed of us to give an effective pitch. I.e we provided all the information that was required of us so that Sheffield Live understand what our audio media product is going to be like.

Weaknesses Based Upon Feedback;
Based upon the feedback we received from Sheffield Live the improvements that needed to be made to our pitch was to fully understand and know everything you need to for your audio media product and do to so with confidence (Be confident in what you are saying).

LO5 Feedforward Sheet

This is my feed-forward sheet;
A feed-forward sheet is a form which helps you to reflect upon feedback that you have received by making you address several questions which relates to your previous tasks.

In this feed-forward sheet I have done just that, I have reflected upon my feedback that I received to address and answer the questions asked.

LO4/5 Revised Treatment with Information of the Groups Contributions (I.e. me)

Original Treatment

Revised Treatment (Improved/Developed)

As you can see below the improvements made to the newer treatment are varied. The most notable of which is the way in which the treatment is now presented i.e. the form is presented a lot more cleanly which makes it easier to read and understand, for example the headings and subheadings are clear and easily visible. The second most notable change is that of the amount of writing/content within the form i.e. the form is presented in a more professional manner, for example it uses full sentences rather than one word answers. Another notable change to the treatment is that is goes into a lot more depth when required, for example in the section about the hosts and presenters we have clearly stated why we think that Stephen and me (Joseph) would be good hosts and why we believe that. The fourth and last most notable change to the treatment was the addition of the future development ideas, i.e. where I talked about the possible increase in time in which the audio media product stayed up for.

However there are several other alterations to the treatment that are less noticeable such as the way in which the production method of the audio media product is presented and the way in which the question ‘Will your program use advertising to make a profit’ is presented/answered. Another way in which the treatment was altered was the target audience for example I went into more depth about who our audience will be, much like I stated in the previous paragraph. Much like the same as before another alteration was that of the addition of possible questions to be raised for interviews and the typical music that is to be heard in this podcast. Another alteration that was made to the radio treatment ‘Anime Half-Hour’ was within the financial section of the treatment as we went back and looked at the cost of everything and checked the maths and found mistakes with the pricing of the PRS licence so we went back to alter the mistake and change the annual income of the audio media product.
